El periodista e historiador Juan Carlos Licari, en su trabajo que publica el Área de Educación y Cultura, nos recuerda que en un día como hoy, pero 83 años atrás, la Escuela Florentino Ameghino abría sus puertas para la educación y como herramienta de desarrollo para cada persona.
El 11 de mayo de 1938, con el carácter de Escuela Terminal y por decreto del entonces Gobernador, Dr. Amadeo Sabattini, se creó la que hoy conocemos con el nombre de “Florentino Ameghino”, en homenaje bellvillense al talentoso paleontólogo argentino.
El 17 de agosto de 1939, en el 31° aniversario de la proclamación de Bell Ville como ciudad, en una clamorosa jornada popular presidida por el citado mandatario provincial y el Intendente Don Arturo Matterson, se inauguró el actual edificio en calle Entre Ríos 457. Además, por Resolución del Consejo General de Educación, oficialmente nació ese mismo año el Jardín de Infantes del establecimiento educativo.
Recién en el 2019 el Jardín contó con edificio propio, el cual por gestiones del actual intendente Carlos Briner, se erigió con fondos provinciales y con administración y aportes técnicos del municipio local.
